Filter works fine enough I guess. But people who say it only last about 2 weeks are telling the truth. I was not happy with how fast it blinked yellow and then red. I expected like 4 times as long. I had a different type of filter, I cant remember the name, but it lasted like 4 – 6 months. It was the type that had a white line that slowly turned black. I’m gonna be going back to it. So If you got a lot of money this is great for you because it only last a couple of weeks.

I’m a big fan of these filters. I live in an agricultural town that uses well water with questionable quality: high mineral content, sulphur odor, and the possibility of agricultural pollution. These filters made a drastic difference in the clarity and taste of the water. Is agricultural waste really contaminating my water and does this this filter remove it? I haven’t had the water tested, thus I don’t know for sure. There are also mixed opinions about town as to whether bad water is a problem. However, letting my taste buds judge, I’ll guess this makes a difference in removing pollutants that I can and cannot taste. These are relatively low-cost filters when purchasing in bulk. The faucet mount for these filters is a different matter altogether, and I think it is a shame they are not built to the same quality standards as the filters they hold.

I’ve had this PUR 3-stage filtration system for 4 months now and have gone through a 6pk of filters. So I’m averaging about 1 filter every 2-3 weeks. At first I was upset because the filters are expensive and were advertised for 2-3 months of usage. But our filtered water tastes MUCH better than the normal tap water (and the strong chlorine smell was filtered away) so it seems as though the filters were doing their job. Recently, I received a notice from our town water utility describing the local water system. Apparently none of the town water is filtered, it comes straight from the NYC aqueduct and gets chlorinated, but that’s it. The town we live in is fairly old so I imagine the water pipes are quite old. Also, our house is over 100 years old so I suspect that the combination of unfiltered town water + old water pipes is allowing a lot of sediment to clog our PUR filter. I would much rather spend some extra money on filters to ensure clean water than to worry about whether the filters lasts a long time. If a filter lasts a really long time, it seems to me that maybe it’s too porous and allows more sediment and chemicals through into the drinking water. I’m no expert but this is my thinking on this issue.

Maytag UKF8001 Review
Received the Puriclean II filter as promised. Promptly unwrapped the filter and placed it into my Maytag refrigerator. Unfortunately, a lot of air pressure or water pressure built up, and there was no warning that the first 20 or 30 seconds of water coming out of my fridge would be at high pressure (enough pressure to hit the bottom of a glass and shoot back out as a foot high geyser.) Other than that slight installation issue, the filter works well, the water tastes fine, and the water comes out at a good rate from the fridge. This was also one of the better prices I could find on the internet.

The Maytag UKF8001 Purclean11 works for my Whirlpool Refrigerator. The price was the lowest I found.

These retail for close to $50 in stores like Home Depot, Menards, etc. I saved big here! We stopped buying bottled water all together now. My water is kind of hard and it tastes great once it’s filtered.

The water here in LA has a terrible taste. Using this filter the water tastes as good as bottled water.

One of the functions I like best about our new fridge is the filtered h2o. This is only the second filter I’ve needed in 4 years.

I had been paying almost $60.00 for the same Filter through a large national chain that sold me the refrigerator initially. We recently had some preventive warranty service done and the technician had recommended another filter as one of their add on sales. I declined and went straight to Amazon to see if there were any other options. I could not believe the difference in pricing (almost half the cost)and even though I was skeptical, I ordered and was pleasantly surprised! The filter shipped quickly and was brand new. I have inserted the filter and have experienced no issues and will purchase through Amazon from now on.

The product was in perfect condition and exactly what I needed. However the shipping was slow. The turn around time for this to leave their location was slow. My ice maker and water was not working because my part had gone bad. If I would have known it was going to take so long I would have bought local. If you need it in a hurry I do not recommend.

Has anyone had a problem with the water pressure in these filters? I’m not sure if it’s a normal effect for the water pressure to diminish as the filter gets used more, but our filter is almost six months old and the water pressure recently dropped to almost nothing. We can’t even use it. The built-in filter monitor shows a green light still. So I don’t know what’s up.

I purchased two filters and received them within one week of ordering. It seemed that I had to run water through the filter much longer than the recommended three minutes, but since then haven’t had problems with water quality. The water and ice have no taste and we haven’t been purchasing as much bottled water. The filter seems to really work because the old filter was cloudy and had a lot of sediment in it…all the stuff we shouldn’t be drinking. I’ll definitely continue buying these from the same vendor.

Me and my family have been using Pur filters for over five years and we love them. Leave it to NSF to see what they do filter out and what they don’t, but Pur makes water taste clean and refreshing. We’ve been using them in Chicago, Los Angeles, Ann Arbor and Baton Rouge, and in all these places water from Pur filter would taste better then almost any brand of bottled water we tried.
Fortunately, we’ve stocked up on “old-fashioned” filters with freshness monitors right before Costco stopped selling them and switched to Brita. When our stockpile ran out we had no choice but to get “new and improved” kind. While there is no discernible difference in either speed of filtration, or quality of the outcome, we really miss the monitor feature.
Well, the box says that each filter may be used for about 40 gallons of water, and that seems to be in line with our usage of old filters. So now we going to guesstimate how much water we use each week, and change the filters accordingly.

We used the Britta system for almost 9 years to filter our nasty tasting local water. We were becoming dissatisfied with the “floating” carbon particles with each filter change and found that the filters were not taking out all of the bad taste. We decided to give the PUR countertop system a try – about the same price as Britta to set up – and were amazed at the better quality of filtered water! The taste is great and no more carbon floaters from the filters. The only “complaint” would be that these filters are harder to find and more expensive than Britta. The extra cost is worth it.

When PUR changed the style of the replacement cartridge, they didn’t fit the PUR Canister. Since then, they have updated the cartridges and they fit perfectly (be sure to get the CRF 950z). No, they don’t have the cute little indicator to tell you to change your filter. But here’s a clue, people. When it takes longer for the water in the upper chamber to filter into the lower chamber, it’s time to change the filter because it’s getting clogged. I’ve been using the same canister for 12 years and have had to replace only the filters periodically. This unit gets used quite a bit and it goes through a filling every other day. The spigot is in great shape as well as the housing. I’ve given these as gifts to my friends and family. All are surprised at the difference it has made in the taste of their water, whether it’s tap or well water. I have very hard water. Without filtration from the PUR, you can taste the iron, smell the sulphur, and see the calcium. With the PUR, no smells or taste. It’s such a great product and works so well, I’m almost afraid they’ll discontinue it.

I have had a Pur water cooler for about three years now, back when the filters were flat on top with the little gauge that showed you when to change the filter. I love Pur water products but it you have anything besides the pitcher, I would not buy these online. Proctor & Gamble changed the design to the one currently pictured (with the very high domed top) and they DO NOT fit the coolers. I am pretty sure they are okay with pitchers though. Over a year later, the redesigned filters are FINALLY making their way to the stores, but given my recent experience buying filters online (through another retailer) there are now three different styles floating (the flat topped filter, the one pictured, and the brand new one) around in stores’ inventories, and I think they all have the same item numbers. The new design is still domed, but much shorter, plus there are three very distinct holes on the top, which you can clearly see on the packaging. Also, I was told by Pur customer service that the filter must have a lot number, stamped on the bottom, starting in the 8000s. So, if you are trying to purchase these filters for your cooler, go to a store: you cannot rely on pictures and item numbers, at least in my experience. Also, many reviewers seem to be upset because there is no longer a “gauge” to tell you when to change the filter. I never go by this- use common sense and change the filters when the water starts to taste bad.

I have been using Brita filters for over six years now and I have nothing but the best to say about them. Living in a part of the country where the tap water contains impurities resulting in poor taste, at first I resorted to bottled water. Besides being hard on the old wallet, I found that some brands had a burnt aftertaste to them. So I tried Brita. I was amazed at how it improved the taste of ordinary tap water. It tasted better than some bottled water I had been purchasing and it was crystal clear. I have been using Brita ever since. The only drawback initially is the cost of the pitcher, but once you have it the only other cost are the filters that are readily available at most stores. Each filter lasts about 40 gallons, which translates into getting bottled water quality for seventeen cents per gallon.

I’ve been using Brita Water Filters for several years. I can see the difference using them makes. The water pipes in my area have sediment in them which shows up as a brown slimly coating on certain surfaces like bathroom walls and plastic cups after washing them when they have dried. We use the filtered tap water to make powered milk and in cooking. I change the filters about every 3 months.

I bought these to suppliment the bottled water my son and I were going through(it’s amazing how much water a 17 yr old boy drinks even when he takes a couple of sips and opens another bottle because he forgot he had one open). Our water is hard and sometimes has a smell and since I’ve been going through cancer treatment I’ve been trying to be a little more concious of things like this. I’ve had these pitchers before, but something happened to it and I’m glad I eventually bought another. I recommend this highly if you have problems with your tap water, or if you have a well(which my paternal grandparents did on their farm). Much improved taste and believe me it’s helped my costs on the bottled stuff.
