When I installed the new filter I didn’t realize that we would go through a period where the water tasted “funny”, at least that’s how my wife described it. It took about a week for the taste of the water to return to normal. That was the only thing that I didn’t realize when I replaced the filter. Besides that it worked fine.

This filter does wonders for city water, filtering out the chlorine that is way too prevalent! I had a bit of a hard time trying to get this filter into my fridge, but in the end I just had to use more force than I thought a plastic filter (and fridge components) could take. Once I got the water to flush through it for the recommended 4 minutes, it worked like a charm!

Well when I first got it and put it in, it caused water to leak all over the place. Then there was disgusting gray blobs coming out in the water, so I looked and its said to run it to filter it out for four minutes. I did but still couldn’t use it..I had to run it a lot longer, which wasted a lot of water…I don’t understand I’ve used this product before and never had a problem so maybe just some are like this? I don’t know, works fine now.

Yes, the filter is quite expensive, but I did without mine for a month or so, because I ordered the replacement recommended by Whirlpool, which was the wrong one. So, I had to order a replacement, which meant more expense, but the quality of the water is just so much better, as well as the taste and smell of the ice. Installation is fairly easy, just make sure you have a flashlight if yours is at the floor level like mine. You have to line it up correctly. I will continue to replace mine when my refrigerator’s light recommends. I won’t like the expense, but I do believe it is worth it for better tasting and better smelling ice and water. I had never had water filtration in a refrigerator before, but I’m so glad that I do now.
